The Kenya Flower Council, fully sponsored by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH and Trade and Fairs Consulting GmbH, participated in the first edition of Floradecora that took place in Messe Frankfurt Germany from 27 to 30th January 2017. This is a new trade fair for fresh flowers and ornamental which attracted over 60 exhibitors.
The elegant and classy booths were all done uniformly with decorations. The organizers of the show introduced a new concept whereby the focus was on the products. The setup had numerous display tables presenting a particular variety from the various producers exhibiting in the show. With this arrangement, the visiting buyers passed by the tables and identified the variety that most pleases to them.
If buyers, for instance, are looking for red roses, they would find the entire range of red roses on the display tables and choose their preferred variety. The vase is labeled with the name of the variety, the flowering period, the exhibitor’s name, country and the stand location. The buyers would then go ahead to the booth where the owner of the variety identified is for further discussion.
“Our focus is on the product and of utmost importance to give all the exhibitors an equal chance to do business regardless of where they come from. We lead the buyers directly to the producers and flower growers. The Exhibition Centre takes entire responsibility for setting up the display tables and the regular replacement and care of the fresh items in the displays on behalf of the exhibitors. This complete package is really quite revolutionary in the sector,” says Eva Olbrich, Director of Christmasworld, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.
“This is a good avenue for the Kenyan flowers to penetrate the Germany market directly. Most of our flowers land in Germany but unfortunately they loose their identity as having come from Kenya.” said Mr. Hitesh Dave of PJ Dave flowers.
Kenyan Flowers were also not left out at the show. They were displayed by Flower Optimal Connection under a concept “Rose Safari” where high quality roses were uniquely packaged.
“The show is a great platform for African Flowers. We want to have Kenyan Companies display their flowers come 2018 during the second edition. We want the growers to sell directly to the buyers in Germany and the surrounding countries. A Kenyan Pavilion will be a great idea. “Added Skander Negasi, chief Executive of Trade and Fairs Consulting GmbH.
“We will work with the Kenyan growers to ensure their flowers are displayed at the show. We have a lot of space to accommodate as many growers as possible. The 2nd edition of Floradecora will be a breakthrough for the exhibitors.” Said Jurgen Werz of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition Gmbh.
Some of the companies exhibiting included Dutch Flower Group, Barendsen, Dümmen Orange, FleuraMetz, Goedegebuure Natural Decorations, Lisianthus, PT-Creations, Royal Flora Holland, Smithers-Oasis and Your Lily.
The Floradecora show happened simultaneously with the Christmasworld, event which also took place in the same venue.
