APPROVED PLANT PROTECTION SUBSTANCES (ACTIVE INGREDIENTS)

As part of our commitment to sustainable and responsible floriculture, the Kenya Flower Council (KFC) Certification Body provides this comprehensive list of Approved Plant Protection Substances (Active Ingredients) to guide certified producers, suppliers, and stakeholders within the floriculture value chain.

This list is developed in alignment with the KFC Code of Practice – Flowers and Ornamentals Sustainability Standard (FOSS), and considers key criteria such as product safety, environmental impact, worker health and safety, and compliance with both national (e.g., Pest Control Products Board - PCPB) and international market requirements, including those set by the European Union, the UK, and other global destinations.

The substances listed here have been evaluated and approved for use under certified production systems, taking into account:

KFC-certified producers are required to adhere strictly to the use of plant protection products from this approved list and to apply them as per recommended guidelines, including dosage, re-entry intervals, and safety measures. The Scheme Management reviews and updates this list periodically in response to regulatory changes, scientific evidence, and market dynamics.

We urge all stakeholders to consult this list regularly and to ensure that any product in use is both legally registered and ethically applied, supporting Kenya's reputation as a leading producer of safe and sustainable flowers.
